WHAT MAKES MOLD OCCUR IN HOMES?

Mold in homes typically occurs due to moisture issues. Common causes include:

  1. Leaks: From roofs, windows, pipes, or appliances, allowing water to seep into walls, ceilings, and floors.
  2. Condensation: Often due to poor ventilation, especially in high-moisture areas like bathrooms and kitchens.
  3. Flooding: Can lead to extensive mold growth if not properly and promptly addressed.
  4. High Humidity: In areas with high humidity levels, insufficient ventilation can lead to mold growth on walls, ceilings, and personal items.
  5. Poor Ventilation: Traps moisture inside and creates a favorable environment for mold.

DO I NEED A PROFESSIONAL MOLD TEST?

Professional mold testing is particularly important in homes with elderly residents, children, or individuals with compromised immune systems. These groups are more vulnerable to the adverse health effects of mold. Additionally, if anyone in the household is experiencing symptoms that may indicate toxic mold exposure, it's advisable to conduct a professional mold test.

In the interest of maintaining the highest standards of integrity and objectivity, we ensure that a third-party tester conducts the final mold assessment after our remediation work. This approach guarantees an unbiased evaluation, ensuring that our work meets all required safety and quality standards.

How much Does Mold Testing Cost in Connecticut?

According to Homeadvisor, mold inspections cost between $300 and $1,018, with an average cost of $659. Small- to medium-size houses (under 4,000 square feet) will average about $300 to $400, whereas larger homes (4,000 square feet or more) can run anywhere from $700 to $1,000.

Our Mold Testing Pricing AND PROCESS:

Our standard rate for mold testing is $125.00 per test, and typically, three tests are conducted within a home. Our approach involves conducting one test for every 1,000 square feet of the impacted area. Additionally, separate enclosed spaces, such as individual rooms, will each require their own test.

FOR INSTANCE:
In the case of a mold-infested bathroom, we would carry out one air quality test within the bathroom itself, capturing 5-10 liters of air to assess the air quality. A second test would be conducted just outside the bathroom, like in the hallway, to determine if the mold has spread beyond the room. A third test, serving as a control, would be performed outside the house. If there are areas with visible mold, we will also perform swab tests on these spots. This comprehensive testing helps us identify which specific type of mold, out of a possible 100 types, is present in the room.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO GET TEST RESULTS BACK?

We use professional laboratories for testing and next-day each sample to them to get results back as quick as 2-3 business days.
